Thanks for your interest in our Global Outreach! Currently we have two countries that we send teams to.
Nuevo Progreso, Mexico
Mexico is a third world country with many health, physical and financial needs. Outreach with a local church in Nuevo Progreso, Mexico provides the opportunity for Northridge to assist in the city of the Nuevo Progresso in a variety of different ways.
ICA Tokyo, Japan
Japan is a first world country where outreach is not financial, physical or health but of a primarily spiritual one. Northridge is partnering with AG Missionary Jonathan Lowrance , Pastor of the International Christian Assembly of Tokyo, a church offering both English and Japanese services a local neighborhood in Tokyo, Japan. He is dedicated to discipling and building faith among those who receive the gospel and have made Christ their Lord and savior in Tokyo. Less than one percent of the entire country have heard the Gospel and with a population of 124 million and with nearly 37 million within eyesight, this is truly a “ harvest is great, but the workers are few." just as Jesus described.
What to expect on a Tokyo trip: A seven to eight day trip departing on a Monday and returning the following Tuesday. Transportation in Tokyo is primarily done on the train system requiring payments for every use, so a smart phone is a must. Upon arrival in Tokyo, Jonathan and his team meets our team and assists with the navigation on and through the train system of Tokyo. Hotel accommodations for the stay are comparable to hotels here in America. All meals are in various restaurants and will be at the expense of the each team member. When considering this trip it's important to plan on the daily cost each person will endure during the trip. When cost is given by Northridge it will include the cost of flight, lodging accommodations and a few venues that the team will visit during the trip. Meals and transit estimates will be discussed during interest meetings so one can plan accordingly. Expect long periods of standing, walking, and crowded spaces. The ICA team will guide our team through some of the history of Tokyo. Understanding Japanese history and witnessing the lack of Christianity enables one to truly grasp the magnitude of the spiritual battle that is playing out in Tokyo. This first hand experience and understanding the spiritual battle helps to develop how to pray for Tokyo.
What's the outreach on Tokyo trip? Pastor Jonathan and his team will take the opportunity when our team arrives to schedule an outreach moment with his church. Our team will become the "dream team" for the event. Serving and facilitating the event so that the ICA staff is solely focused on ministry. So our mission upon arrival is setup, facilitate, tear down and clean up the event. This may require more than one day of set up, depending on the event.
Are there events that happen frequently? As of now we make this trip once a year, and the dates are determined by our missionary Pastor Jonathan Lowrance. As soon as the dates are determine we will host an interest meeting. Interest meetings give those who attend the opportunity to be among the first commit to the trip. Trip size is limited to twelve so spots are very limited.
What are the requirements? Must be able to fly on an international flight. Must have passport valid for six months past the date of the trip. Those over 18 must have a TBI background check. Must be able to stand, walk and be okay in crowded situations for long periods of time.
